The Midlands Simon Community yesterday launched their programme of activities in the first ever ‘Simon Week’, a nationwide initiative designed to increase awareness and understanding of the issue of homelessness. The week will also celebrate the vital contribution made by volunteers to the work of Midlands Simon Community.

Following the release of Junior Cert results recently the No Name Club announces two graduation nights in Erris and Claremorris on September 28 and October 3 respectively as well as a No Name Club Rose of Carrindine in Balla on October 26 as part of Positive Alternatives campaign. The lack of progress of any real note in the rejuvenation of St Patrick’s Estate in Ballina since the housing group took over control of the estate two years ago provoked widespread condemnation at the monthly meeting of Ballina Town Council on Wednesday night. Kilkenny ladies juvenile football is holding a blitz for under 12 and under 14 teams on this Saturday (July 11) at O’Loughlins GAA Club from 10am until 1pm. teams will be seven a side (panels of 10) and entry fee is just €20 per team.
