The public are being asked to submit any photographs they have to do with cycling to help form an exhibition which will take place in the summer.

RTÉ’s Operation Transformation TVseries is teaming up again with the Irish Sports Council to bring you a great family sports day this Saturday February 5. The event will take place in AIT, where experts in a range of sports will be on hand to guide you through the basics of a wide variety of sporting activities. All five leaders from the programme and fitness expert Karl Henry and medical doctor Dr Eva Orsmonde will be there drumming up support for the family day of fun.

Galway boasts a new triathlon club, TríSpórt, which is also a first for the Connemara Gaeltacht.

Castlebar has now got a unique event of its own its called the Harlequin Adventure Duathlon, it will be held on Saturday March 26 with a start time of 9am. This race is a mix of running, cycling, and mountain running, very much like the famous Gael Force event which has proven to be a big hit in the Leenane/Westport area. Under challenging November weather conditions the Westport Sea2Summit pushed the country’s leading adventure runners through their limits for the top sporting challenge. Taking in an intense 56.5km over a series of road running, mountain cycling, and running up the challenging terrain of Croagh Patrick with the backdrop of Clew Bay, the summit included a sea dash in Clew Bay and intricate obstacle challenge before finishing in the Fairgreen Westport

The cream of Irish adventure racers and athletes is set to descend on Westport this weekend for the inaugural Westport Sea 2 Summit Adventure Race. The event, which is only in its first year, has attracted more than 600 entries from all over Ireland and across the water.

Whatever your age or level of fitness, it is never too late to start cycling. This Sunday November 7, Shannonside Cycling Club, in conjunction with Athlone Triathlon Club, are holding a cycle to cater for all levels.

The 2010 club league organised by Western Lakes CC and Covey Wheelers Westport was another resounding success, with 105 participating over 10 rounds; this year the Tri Lakes triathlon club took part and added to the racing. Under-16 cyclist Francis Sheridan, who is having a brilliant year on the bike, won the overall league title with two impressive performances in the final rounds. Francis lives in Shramoor and usually has the longest drive to get to races but this didn’t deter him from travelling or winning. This is the third year of the league and the first time a Westport cycling club member won.

Kilkenny man Martin Gahan was part of the winning team of three blind and visually impaired tenpin bowlers who represented Irish Blind Sports at the recent bowling tournament in Hampshire, England.
