Council pays tribute to recently deceased locals

The members of Mayo County Council paid tribute to a number of people who had recently passed away at their April meeting on Monday. Included in those was the late John Durcan, who was a brother of Cllr Frank Durcan. Cllr Cyril Burke said: “He was a great business man and was highly respected in the town and involved in many areas of the community and will be missed.”

After it was twice postponed due to the inclement conditions the Kilkenny Camogie AGM finally took place just before Christmas in the Springhill Hotel. A number of clubs were unavailable due to difficulty of travelling in the treacherous wintery conditions. However, the convention went ahead without any dramatic changes.
