Son of Ernie O’Malley to give a talk on O’Malley’s life in Castlebar

Mayo County Library is starting the year with a once-off opportunity to hear about the life of Castlebar born revolutionary hero Ernie O’Malley by his son. The talk entitled Ernie O'Malley, A Life Spent Beyond the Pale will be delivered by Cormac O’Malley in Castlebar Library on Friday January 16 at 7.30pm and is free to the public.

It has been announced that Mr Lars Frisell, director of economics at the Central Bank of Ireland, will be the guest speaker at the upcoming Paddy Ryan Memorial Lecture in GMIT. The special lecture, which will be held on Tuesday December 11 in Theatre 1000, will recognise Paddy Ryan’s role as former mayor and alderman of Galway City, and honorary memory of the Galway Chamber. As part of the Amicable Society he welcomed President John Fitzgerald Kennedy to Galway during his tenure.
