Ireland’s first 24 hour dog adoption event takes place on tomorrow Friday August 24 and Saturday August 25. Organised by Galway dog rescue charity MADRA, the event will take place from 8am to 8pm each day at the Trusty Pet Pals dog daycare centre in Briarhill.

Cruffs and Scruffs Dog Show and Summer Fete

North West SPCA, which is a registered charity based in Ballina, but which works throughout Mayo and the north west, is organising a Cruffs and Scruffs Dog Show and Summer Fete. The event will take place on Sunday August 26 from 12 noon to 6pm, at Rehins, Ballina, close to Hotel Ballina.

The Loughrea Dog show will take place from 1pm to 5pm at the Temperance Hall on Sunday August 19. The show, which will be judged by Professor Gerard Fleming, promises to be a fun-filled day for all the family.

The Pedigree Adoption Drive continues to raise awareness of animal welfare and encourages Irish dog lovers to adopt a dog from their local shelter or welfare organisation. For every pack of Pedigree dog food bought, during the Pedigree Adoption Drive, a donation from Pedigree will be given to help Irish dogs. In Ireland, averages of 44 dogs are abandoned every single day.
