Alan Kerins Projects is pleased to announce that a novel charity match will take place in Croke Park on Thursday October 27 at 3.30pm. The match will see the old rivalry ignited between Dublin and Galway in what promises to be a fun filled occasion. Some of Ireland’s greatest sporting heroes have signed up for the event and they include; Padraic Joyce, Bernard Dunne, Ray Houghton, Jason Sherlock, Katie Taylor, Darragh O Se, Pat Spillane, Mikey Sheehy, Seamus Moynihan, Hector, Gary Gillespie, Ken Doherty, Mick Galway and Tony Ward.

An Irish contingent will climb Africa’s highest peak and the world’s tallest freestanding mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, in order to raise funds for Goal’s Horn of Africa Crisis Response and Cementing Communities, a non-profit organisation established with the aim of empowering communities in the developing world.

Galway city native Liam Warden is among six SERVE volunteers undertaking a gruelling cycle from Malin Head to Mizen Head. The six day cycle commences on May 22 and hopes to spread the message of solidarity. The team come from various backgrounds and locations all across the country.

Some had lost their homes due to the economic crises with each person having been unemployed for an average of 10 months. The common bond between the group was the hope of bettering their circumstances with the sole objective of finding jobs.

An exciting new programme to unlock the potential of job seekers has been launched in Galway. Potential participants taking part in this 30-day career boost project, which starts on November 8, will enjoy taking part in a parachute jump, climbing Croagh Patrick, and visiting an active Dáil Éireann session. There will be kayaking, mountain trailing, bio energy sessions, charity events, brainstorming talks in addition to a variety of problem-solving activities and sample interview preparations - all complemented by appropriate and extremely beneficial career tips throughout the 30 days.

A table quiz in aid of the Alan Kerins African Projects charity takes place in Monroe’s Live, Dominick Street, tomorrow at 9pm.
