WILLY VLAUTIN, the lead singer and songwriter of the much-acclaimed Americana band, Richmond Fontaine, is making a welcome return to Galway as part of The Delines, who this month released their second album.

WILLY VLAUTIN of The Richmond Fontaine and Jenny Conlee of The Decemberists have joined forces as The Delines, whose Irish tour next month takes in Galway.

It all started with a trip to the Galway Races and a chance encounter with a lady who liked a few bets on the gee-gees. It was further compounded by another chance encounter, this time with two men, who offered a seat and good company in a crowded Galway city bar.

RICHMOND FONTAINE, the Portland, Oregon, Americana band led by vocalist, songwriter, and novelist Willy Vlautin, play Kelly’s, Bridge Street, on Friday October 16 at 8.30pm.

I don't think it was just the free pints of Smithwicks and Guinness, but there was a real feelgood atmosphere down in the Cellar Bar in the brewery last week.
