In line with its Local Authority Climate Action Plan (2024 to 2029), the council is aiming to improve its energy efficiency by half, compared to 2009 levels, and achieve a 51 per cent reduction in carbon emissions compared to a 2016-2018 baseline.

The Warm Home Hub is back to help local households cut down on their bills and make their homes warmer, more energy-efficient, and more comfortable. Based in Westside, the Hub is running free events across Galway city until December, offering practical advice on how to upgrade your home and access grants. Some of these grants can even cover the full cost of the work. The service is independent and completely free of charge.
