Tomorrow morning, Saturday June 9 at 10am the Claremorris Lions Club/Mayo Cancer Support Association - Claremorris 10k will take place. The 10k course is AAI measured and you can still enter tomorrow morning at the Dalton Inn Hotel. Entry costs €22 and there will be cash prizes on offer for the first three men and three women. The race will start and finish in the town centre. With refreshments available after the race.

Mr Hynes outlined that since the end of March the harbour at Westport was handed over from Westport Harbour Commissioners to the Mayo County Council with the intention that the Westport Electoral Area would be an advisory committee. The town manager said that a formal thank you would take place for the Westport Harbour Commissioners in the near future.

Bye-laws governing the harbour in Westport are set to be introduced, local politicians were told this week. The bye-laws will tackle many issues include the ongoing issue of an abandoned vessel in the area.
