Athlone Round Table’s 2008 annual charity ball will take place on November 22 at the Radisson, SAS Athlone.

Secondary school students from all over Westmeath are gearing up to compete in the Westmeath County Student Enterprise Awards, to take place on Friday March 6 in Golden Island Shopping Centre, Athlone. The winning team will represent Westmeath in the national finals in May.

Marking the 125th anniversary of the foundation of the GAA, councillors were brought up to speed on the development of Gaelic games in the county by club support officers Eddie Bouabse and James Heffernan at Monday’s meeting.
