IdeasLab, the entrepreneurial and innovation hub at University of Galway launched in December 2022, is now actively recruiting at the University of Galway. The programme aims to further develop female-focused initiatives with a focus on creativity as a central tenet. To ensure that the initiative is coherent, fit for purpose and student centric IdeasLab has through a consultative process designed a programme that will be reviewed by an expert advisory group.

Galway Technology Centre (GTC) has announced the appointment of Ollie Daniels as new CEO and Director of Entrepreneurship & Innovation.

Anne Downey, a long serving Board Member and Director of WestBIC, has now taken up the helm as Chair of WestBIC, the Business Innovation Centre for the West/North West region. She takes over as WestBIC Chair, following the untimely passing of its previous Chair, Dr Chris Coughlan, who championed WestBIC’s role in supporting entrepreneurs to convert and scale their innovative concepts into high potential start-ups.

Running from Saturday September 22 to Saturday September 29, Mayo Ideas Week has a programme with something to suit businesses of all sizes and at all stages. The theme for the week is Empowering People and a strong element of enterprise and entrepreneurship is promised.

Tributes were being paid last evening to industrial and cultural visionary Dr Chris Coughlan, who died suddenly this week. Through his involvement with a variety of commercial and cultural organisations in the city, Dr Coughlan made an immense contribution to the development of Galway, spearheading most of the current plans for future-proofing the city.
