Status Orange weather warning issued for Mayo

Met Éireann this morning issued a Status Orange weather warning for five counties including Mayo. The weather warning will last from this evening, Wednesday, January 11 until Friday night, January 13.

Mayo saw higher mean temperatures and lower total rainfall in 2016 compared to 2015 according to the records from Met Eireann's four weather stations in the county. The warmest mean monthly temperature recorded in the county was in Newport in August at 15.5 degrees, with the Claremorris station recording a monthly mean high temperature of 15.1 degrees in August also, while in the same month Knock Airport recorded a monthly mean year high of 14.4 degrees with Belmullet's station recording its monthly mean high for the year of 14.6 degrees in June.
