Ten brand-new stainless-steel dog litter bins have been installed on popular walking routes around Belmullet town, as part of an anti-dog-fouling campaign by Baile Slachtmhar Bhéal an Mhuirthead (Belmullet Tidy Towns).

Bins specifically designed to take pizza boxes will be installed and trialled at various locations throughout the city, including Salthill and the Spanish Arch.

The Galway City Council will this week collect the "hundreds of bags filled with green cuttings" which have been "left out on green areas in a number of city estates" in recent weeks.
