A new year in the life of Mayo Association Dublin was marked by the 2017 annual general meeting held recently in the Sandymount Hotel, Dublin 4. The new chairperson is Julie Doyle, the fifth female chair since the association's foundation in 1905. Another woman to take a position at the top table is Grace Heneghan, who will take over as secretary. They join Bernardine Walsh-Cummins (public relations officer), Michael Kealy (treasurer), Mona McGarry (president), Eddie Melvin (vice president), and Frank Fleming (honorary life president) who were reappointed to their offices for a second year.

Byrne wins Carra Classic - Diver runs PB in Japan

On Sunday the Carra Classic 8k was won by John Byrne (Mayo AC) in 27:29 - the first woman home was Kathy Gleeson (Claremorris) in 30:56. The Carra Classic is part of the Great Lakes series of spring races and 160 competitors made it to the finish line.

Ticket race heats up as clubs informed of allocations

The clubs in Mayo were informed of their ticket allocations for the up coming All Ireland final at last nights County Board meeting in MacHale Park. Outlining how the distribution of the tickets will work, Mayo GAA secretary Vincent Neary opened his remarks by telling the club delegates present that Mayo’s allocation will be “significantly” down on the allocation from 2013.
