As with planned and proposed events nationwide, due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus, Patrick Cassidy’s Cantata, The Children of Lir, due to be performed by Blessington Millennium Choir at Holy Trinity Church, Westport on Saturday 25th April 2020, has been cancelled. The Children of Lir is Patrick’s highly acclaimed traditional musical interpretation of the legend of the Children of Lir, so firmly associated with Mayo.

As part of this year’s Ballina Salmon Festival, Ballina Arts Centre will present The Children of Lir, by the Sheila Moffat School of Irish Dancing on tonight, Friday, July 13. The Ballina-based school will tell the classic story of how four young children were transformed into swans, destined to spend 900 years on the lakes of Ireland, by a curse from their stepmother, through the traditional form of Irish dance.

The Moffatt School of Dancing, Crossmolina together with musicians from the Doherty School of Music, Foxford will present a full traditional music, song and dance show portraying the legend The Children of Lir in Ardagh Community Centre on Friday November 11 at 8pm.
