MESSIAH J & The Expert are on a roll at the moment. Their second album From The Word Go has been nominated for a Choice and Meteor award and they are about to undertake an Irish tour.

Prime Cut’s vibrant production of Marina Carr’s powerful and darkly comic Woman and Scarecrow will take in the Linenhall Arts Centre on Monday March 23 as part of a whirlwind national tour that has been taking critics by storm. Linenhall director Marie Farrell says: “We are delighted to host such a prestigious production of this wonderful play. It will be a great opportunity for people to see the very best of Irish theatre here in Castlebar.”

Twenty-two-year-old DCU student Michael McHale, from Ballyvary, scooped the coveted Best Journalist award, sponsored by the Irish Examiner, at the 3 student media awards. It was judged by Tim Vaughen, the Examiner's editor.

So the race is finally on. All the months of planning, strategising and getting the make-up on for the photographers comes to fruition as the images appear on every pole and roadside inside and outside the borough boundary.
