Galway schools excel at Tailteann Games

Conor Penney of Calasanctius College and Craughwell AC was outstanding. He smashed the Tailteann Games High Jump record with a huge 2.09 metre effort. Penney leaped up to 2.05 metres clearing all heights on his first attempt, and then set the record initially by jumping over at 2.07m and added further to it when clearing 2.09m on his second attempt for an amazing victory.

When Westmeath step on to the hallowed Croke Park surface on Saturday it will be the team’s fourth fixture in the inaugural Tailteann Cup competition, a journey to this showpiece occasion which commenced with a three point victory over Laois in O’Moore Park, on May 29.
