Funding finally released for Shrule village enhancement scheme

The long hold up on the progress of the Shrule village enhancement scheme looks to have finally been resolved with the announcement of the sanctioning of €163,943 for the project. The enhancement scheme had been held up for more than a year over the funding issue after work had initially started. The new funding for the scheme will be given by South West Mayo Development Company following approval for the payment by the Minister for Environment, Phil Hogan. The project will be co-funded by Mayo County Council and the hold up in the scheme had seen a number of elected local officials expressing their upset.

Ring welcomes funding for Croagh Patrick Holiday Hostel

Minister of State Michael Ring has welcomed the announcement from Minister for Environment, Phil Hogan that he has given approval for South West Mayo Development Company Limited, to approve funding of €200,000 to Croagh Patrick Holiday Village for the construction and development of a Croagh Patrick Holiday Hostel, in Murrisk. Funding will be provided under the Encouragement of Tourism Activities measure of the Rural Development Programme 2007-2013.

Almost €20m released to Mayo's local development companies

Taoiseach Enda Kenny has welcomed news from the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Phil Hogan announcing revised allocations under the LEADER elements of the Rural Development Programme 2007-2013 which release the programme’s remaining €70 million for local development companies around the country. Of this €70 million, a total of €19,896,889 will be awarded to Mayo.

O’Mahony welcomes €154,000 for Curam Family & Social Centre Claremorris

Mayo Fine Gael TD John O’Mahony has welcomed the announcement by Phil Hogan, Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government, that he has given sanction for South West Mayo Development Company Limited to approve funding of €154,788.71 to Claremorris Social & Family Centre Ltd (Cúram) for the construction of a 1,400sq ft extension to its facility. The extension will include a counselling room, family support room, office interview rooms, reception, and toilet facilities at the Curam Family & Social Centre Building, Claremorris, under the Basic Services for the Economy and Rural Population measure of the Rural Development Programme 2007-2013.
