ESRI’s John Fitzgerald to speak at GMIT

Professor John Fitzgerald, adjunct professor in economics at Trinity College Dublin and former research professor at the Economic and Social Research Institute, will deliver his annual lecture on 'The Irish economy and policy challenges' to GMIT business students in GMIT’s Galway campus on Tuesday October 15 at 12 noon. The lecture will take place in Room 99, and members of the public are welcome to attend.

RTB’s latest Rent Index finds average rent for new tenancies in Mayo was €623

According to the latest Rent Index from the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB), in the October-December period (quarter four) of 2018, the standardised national average rent of tenancies in Mayo was €623 - up from €577 (+€46) one year earlier - and down €9 on the previous quarter (quarter three 2018).

Rents in Mayo on the rise again

In the July-September period this year, the average rent in county Mayo for newly registered properties with the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) was €575. This is up €11 when compared to the average rent in Q2, 2017, which was €564, and is up €23 when compared to a year earlier, in Q3, 2016. This is according to the latest Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) Rent Index which is produced in conjunction with the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI).

The average rent for all dwellings in the private rented sector in  Mayo in quarter two of 2015, and which were registered with the Private Residential Tenancies Board (PRTB), was €514. This was up €3 when compared to the average rent in quarter one when the amount was €511, and was up €8 when compared to a year earlier, in quarter two last year.
