Lakelands region hits the airwaves in Germany

Cruising holidays on the River Shannon are on air in Germany right now, courtesy of a Tourism Ireland radio promotion which will reach over 500,000 listeners each day during the month-long campaign. A competition on popular radio station HR1, in association with Dertour (a leading German tour operator) is offering six lucky people the chance to win a cruising break on the Shannon. Tourism Ireland adverts are highlighting the relaxed and enjoyable pace of a cruising holiday as well as the many things to see and do for German holidaymakers in this part of Ireland.

“The water is available to everyone”

Despite widespread concerns from local people the new water eco-park mooted for the Midlands will not affect water levels of the Shannon. Speaking to the Advertiser Gerry Geoghan of RPS, a consultant firm to Dublin City Council, said that the water supply is not only for the people of Dublin, but also for those in the Shannon area.
