Mayo Fianna Fáil Deputy Dara Calleary has slammed the Government’s decision to shut down six Garda stations in Mayo. According to Superintendent Aiden Foley the application has been sent and he hopes to be called to present to the Garda CCTV committee at the next quarterly meeting. Members of Achill Community Alert CCTV committee, along with local community alert volunteers, will be distributing envelopes to each household in the Achill area during the week starting Monday August 12. This is part of the ongoing efforts of the CCTV committee to raise funds for the purchase of CCTV cameras at the entrance to Achill Island.
