What to do about bullying
In advance of the CAO application deadline, NUI Galway will run an application advice clinic for students and parents who are interested in applying for access to college through the HEAR and DARE schemes. The clinic will be held on Saturday January 10 from 10am to 2pm in the Bailey Allen Hall.
The CAO process, choosing courses and possible future careers can be a big and often problematic experience for 6th year students. Robert Quinn, guidance counsellor with Athlone Guidance, is available for two 1 hour 20 minute sessions (total 2 hours 40 minutes) at a total cost of €100. Robert also helps students applying for UCAS, Án Garda Síochana, apprenticeships, HPAT, PLCs, and other courses of study and work. Robert also meets third, TY, and fifth year students to help them decide school subjects and contemplate future courses/careers.
A qualified career guidance counsellor will give an intensive course for those seeking employment or those who wish to change jobs. The course will cover issues such as employer requirements, mock interviews with professionals, self assessment and how to write an effective CV.
