Last Monday, a group of students from 5th and 6th class from Kilglass National School in Co Galway delivered their 1.5 metre unmanned mini sailboat called ‘Seoltóir Na Gaillimhe – the Galway Sailor’ to the Marine Institute’s research vessel, RV Celtic Explorer, in Galway Harbour.

The Marine Institute Explorers Education Programme has been included in the European Blue School handbook for teachers, that was recently released as part of the launch of the European Blue School project.

A €1 million euro facelift has been unveiled this week at the Shannon Heritage-owned Bunratty Castle and Folk Park in Co. Clare, one of Ireland’s top visitor attractions. A major upgrade has been completed at the popular site, involving the development of a new retail store and online brand, a new café and new attractions around the Park. The sixth annual GMIT International Construction Management Day Conference will take place in the institute on Tuesday March 8, from 9am to 3.45pm. The annual conference is the largest construction event in the west of Ireland and provides a meeting place for professionals, contractors, and academics to meet and discuss matters of concern to the industry. The event draws delegates from Ireland and abroad.
