Town Mayor, Cllr. Frankie Keena, has stressed the urgent need to implement adequate flood preventative measures for those living in rural areas of the local community presently effected by the rising flood waters.

Funding of €9.5 million is to be provided to Galway for protection works against flooding, as well as for works on the city’s waterways. The funding has been allocated by Minister of State for the Office of Public Works, Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran.
