Council signs up to partnership with All-Ireland Pollinator Plan

At a ceremony at the recent Mayo Day event in Turlough House, Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, Cllr Blackie Gavin and Chief Executive Peter Hynes, signed a framework agreement with the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan, to formalise Mayo County Council’s long-term commitment to support pollinators in the county.

The recently completed playground on the grounds of Turlough Park House has won the award for 'Best Public Playground in the Southern Region' at the Association of Landscape Contractors of Ireland, during a recent ceremony in Belfast.

Turlough Park attains Green Flag status

In early 2016 An Taisce sought nominations from local authorities throughout the 32 counties of Ireland to submit application for Parks and Open spaces to be considered for a prestigious award known as the Green Flag. The Green Flag Award scheme recognises and rewards well managed parks and green spaces, setting a benchmark standard for the management of these recreational outdoor spaces around the world.

Ring opens Crossmolina’s new Multi Use Games Area

Michael Ring, Minister of State for Regional Economic Development, officially opened the Crossmolina Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) on Friday last. In October 2016, Minister Ring launched the CLÁR programme which provided funding for small scale infrastructural projects in disadvantaged rural areas that have experienced significant levels of de-population. The funding was provided under three measures, Safety Measures for Schools and Community/Sports Facilities, Playgrounds and Multi-Use Games Areas (MUGA), and Local Access Roads.
