Leading local agent DNG Maxwell Heaslip & Leonard is gearing up for its final auctions of 2014. The successful September auctions hosted by the company confirmed the interest by both first time buyers and investors in the market and the same trend looks set to continue for the November auctions.
I am really looking forward to Sunday’s county final, Castlebar and Ballintubber met in the group stages with the Mitchels winning by a single goal but it seems the tides have turned slightly after Ballintubber’s devastating display in the semi-final win over Knockmore. Castlebar seem to have the measure of Ballintubber as of late, but will certainly be fearful of going up against one of the most lethal club forward lines in the country. They will also be reminded that Ballintubber have beaten them in two finals in the last five years. Castlebar have a better defence than Ballintubber but Ballintubber have a better forward line than Castlebar so something has to give.
Last May between four and five thousand Mayo supporters descended on the Big Apple for the first round of the Connacht Championship, excited, anxious, expectant, is this going to be the year? Mayo supporters are a rare breed; they keep on supporting despite so many setbacks. I bet the New York GAA board and the pubs in Mid Manhattan wish Mayo had to travel every year. The performance levels grew as the tests became stiffer and Mayo found themselves in an All- Ireland semi final replay in Limerick above all places. I find this defeat particularly hard to take because we simply did not deserve to lose to Kerry. What is even more challenging to accept is that a team we were five points up against with three minutes left on the clock or a team we gave a hiding to by 16 points last year are going to be All- Ireland champions, will anything break for us to claim back the Holy Grail?
Cillian O’Connor picked up the man of the match award on The Sunday Game, for his fantastic display, while Colm Boyle got he nod on Sky Sports but those two weren't the only Mayo players deserving of special praise.
DNG Maxwell Heaslip & Leonard will hold its July auctions on Thursday July 24, and one keenly watched property at the event will be Langrenus, an imposing property directly opposite the Dominican secondary school on Taylor’s Hill.
2014 is proving to be a busy year for leading property agents DNG Maxwell Heaslip & Leonard, launching its fourth series of auctions for the year. The July auctions follow on from the successful April auctions which yielded excellent results for the company and its clients. “We are seeing a lot of activity in the marketplace,” according to Alan Maxwell, who heads the auction division at the company. “There is a definite appetite to buy out there and confidence is returning to the market. People are seeking value but they are also seeking quality and well-presented properties. Our open viewings are proving very successful in the lead-up to the auctions. There is a lot of interest in the properties and people are keen to purchase.”
