Galway face Mayo in FBD final with renewed confidence
This Sunday Galway football manager Joe Kernan will find himself back on the sidelines in McHale Park, Castlebar, facing Mayo and John O’ Mahony in the FBD league final only two weeks after his team suffered a humiliating defeat in the first round of the national football league to the same outfit.
Spring signals start of GAA action as Galway head to McHale Park
Spring may have arrived last Monday, and while many national school children were making St Bridget crosses to herald a season of new beginnings, it is with the start of the National football and hurling leagues that signals the end of the winter hibernation for many GAA fans. Genuine GAA supporters just love going to live games.
Naomh Anna come up short against Cookstown
Naomh Anna, Leitir Mór, did their very best on Sunday afternoon at Pearse Park in Longford to try to reach the final of the All-Ireland Intermediate Championship, but it was not to be. They have punched above their weight for most of the season on the road to county and provincial success, but last weekend they came up against a team that was just too good for them. County football championship about to get interesting
With Galway's 44th Connacht title secured, all focus switches to club action next weekend as the Claregalway Hotel Galway SFC resumes. In total, seven senior ties are down for decision including the eagerly awaited clash of Caltra and Moycullen, while county champions Killererin take on Cortoon Shamrocks in the weekend's other stand-out tie.

Like many other pundits and indeed Galway supporters - if they are prepared to admit it after the event - I travelled to Castlebar last Sunday expecting a very close game, but I felt that Mayo would just sneak over the end line in the closing stages.

At 2pm St Michael’s take on Kilconly and at 3.30pm Glenamaddy take on Oughterard with the county u-21 final between Tuam Stars and St James’ also on the billing at 5.30pm.

St Michael’s and Glenamaddy advance
Last Sunday at Tuam Stadium city side St Michael’s were too strong for pre-match favourites Kilconly and progressed to the county intermediate final on a score-line of 1-11 to 1-07.
