Michael Ring TD, the Minister for Rural and Community Development has announced plans for a special scheme to repair homes affected by Mica and Pyrite to be introduced in Mayo and in Donegal.

The Government has signed off in principle on a grant aid scheme to assess and repair pyrite affected homes in Mayo.

It was announced this week that by the Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government, Paudie Coffey, that an expert panel is being established to investigate the presence of mica and defective blocks in homes and buildings in Mayo.
