Last weekend’s action on the playing fields means that the football championships on either side of the Shannon have reached the quarter-final stages. Last weekend was a busy one on the playing fields of Westmeath and Roscommon with a number of quarter final matches down for decision. Tyrrellspass secured a semi-final spot thanks to their 1-13 to 0-10 win over a gallant Maryland. Most pundits expected the Pass to breeze through against surprise quarter-finalists Maryland.
