The IAU Trail World Championships will take place in Connemara tomorrow Saturday July 9. The event will be operated in the area of Connemara National Park and its environs, starting at the world famous Kylemore Abbey and finishing in the nearby village of Letterfrack.

Castlebar’s Paul Kavanagh will be hoping to have his serve and volley in top shape when he takes on the best in the world in the table tennis event.

Nine Galway athletes will be heading to Athens next week as part of the Irish team competing in the 2011 Special Olympics World Games, which begin on June 25.

All the primary schools in the Athlone region are participating in a sports day today (May 27) at the athletics track in the AIT.
