Greenway group seeks progress on Western Rail Corridor greenway proposal

A campaign group set up to seek to use part of the Western Rail Corridor as a greenway until such time as it can be developed to provide a rail service has this week welcomed comments from Iarnród Éireann indicating the company would be open to the project.

Hoax calls can cost lives – O’Mahony

Mayo Fine Gael TD, John O’Mahony, has highlighted what he has described as ‘an unacceptable practice of people making hoax phone calls to the Irish Coast Guard. Deputy O’Mahony, who is chairman of the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Transport and Communications, said that last year alone there were 328 hoax calls received.
