Neil Delamere has more than made his mark on Kilkenny society as a result of his annual appearance at the Cat Laughs Comedy Festival in the city and he is en route back early in the New Year for another side-splitting show.

Having performed on five continents, he staged his debut solo show in the Edinburgh festival in 2004. His live stand-up set was then recorded for the BBC comedy series One Night Stand. Hailed by the Irish Independent for his countless MC skills, Neil is the regular compere at several gigs round Dublin. He has performed all over Ireland as well as at the prestigious Kilkenny Cat Laughs Festival, the Montreal Just For Laughs Festival and the Adelaide Fringe Festival. He featured in both series of the TV stand-up show Liffey Laughs. Neil also presented the RTE television series covering the Montreal festival for two years in a row as well as The World Stands Up for Paramount. THROUGHOUT THE past decade Offaly’s Neil Delamere has been one of the top comics on the Irish comedy circuit. After graduating from DCU in the late 1990s he decided programming computers wasn’t for him and instead he began to do open mic slots in Dublin circuit.

Taking a practice kick at Kilkenny Castle where the line up of this year’s comedy festival was announced earlier this week, star of RTE’s The Panel, Neil Delamere reiterated that it was indeed him who scored the winning goal at last year’s comedian’s soccer match.

Colin Murphy seems concerned. One of The Panel’s best known and loved comedians, he is reflecting on his on-screen partnership with Neil Delamere.

The Cat Laughs festival has opened the box office for ticket sales at the brewery on Parliament Street in the city.
