Mulranny improvement works opened

Michael Ring, Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, and Cllr Michael Holmes, Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, officially opened the new Mulranny footpath and village enhancement scheme last Friday morning. The multi-million euro development consisted of 1.8 kilometres of improvements to the N59 comprising new footpaths, traffic calming, pavements, a viewing promenade, bicycle lanes, pedestrian crossings, picnic tables, and benches.

Crossmolina takes the brunt of Storm Desmond

Towns in Mayo were this morning counting the cost of the damage cause by flooding after storm Desmond caused lashed the county over the weekend. Crossmolina was particularly badly hit by the storm with the River Deel bursting it’s banks and flooding the town.

Bish move to Dangan back on the agenda in new draft development plan

Plans to move St Joseph’s College, The Bish, to a new site were back before the Galway City Council this week following a proposal seeking to designate lands in Dangan, owned by NUI Galway, for the development of a secondary school. The proposal has been included in the draft Galway City Development Plan 2017-2023, which councillors met to discuss on Monday.
