September is proving to be a busy month for the arts across the county, with Westmeath County Council planning three major events for the next two weeks alone.

Glee Club Ireland is coming to Westmeath, with clubs running in the following locations:

Four Westmeath students were among a group of nearly 300 young adults from across the world who attended the Albert Schweitzer’s Leadership for Life (ASLFL) conference last week. The conference was run by Foróige, the National Youth Development Organisation, and ICCUSA Foundation Inc (Irish Chamber of Commerce, USA) at NUI Maynooth. Nathan Byrne (Kinnegad), Deirdre Campbell (Moate), and Sarah Claffey and Grace Farrell (both from Rosemount) secured a place for the week-long conference based on the strength of their written application supported by a nomination to attend from a youth worker or volunteer leader from the county.

A two day charity cycle is destined for Westmeath next month.

This weekend will see the Specials.ie Race of the South at Walderstown Athlone take to the roads.

It is not often that you can go out and have a good time while also helping your community, but that is what is happening in Moate on the afternoon of June 19 when the Moate Dún na Sí amenity park holds a fun day for all the family. The event will be the first in a series of organised activities to bring the intended Midland Amenity Park to reality for the town of Moate and its surrounding communities.
