Theatre returns to Claregalway again this week with the annual Claregalway Festival of Drama which commences this Saturday March 11 and will see eight of the country’s top amateur drama groups compete for qualification to the All Ireland finals in Athlone and Glenamaddy.

The 70th All-Ireland Drama Festival concluded on Saturday night last, when, in the surrounds of the Radisson Blu Hotel Athlone, a gala awards ceremony was hosted in reflection of the participating amateur drama groups whom, for nine successive nights, entertained capacity audiences with their productions on stage at the Dean Crowe Theatre.

Following a two year pandemic enforced absence, the Dean Crowe Theatre will welcome the return of the RTE All-Ireland Drama Festival in May.
