Galway Hospice is appealing to the public to sign a petition to enable it to build a new state-of-the-art hospice on a 14 acre HSE site on the grounds of Merlin Park Hospital.

A Galway East TD is demanding the Minister for Health, Simon Harris, state publicly if additional radiographers, needed to operate a bone scanner at Merlin Park Hospital, have been recruited.

More than 4,600 patients are on a waiting list for a DXA bone density scan at Merlin Park Hospital, it was revealed this week. Some 3,473 of these are GP patients, 1,158 are outpatients while four are inpatients.

The body of a woman was found in Merlin Woods yesterday afternoon during a search for missing woman Mags Berry. Friends had been frantically searching for Ms Berry since her disappearance last week. The 35-year old left Grattan Court in Salthill at 4pm on Wednesday February 3 and travelled to Renmore, but had not been seen since.
