Mayo secondary schools to receive high speed broadband — Minister Ring

Twenty five secondary schools in Mayo are to get high speed (100Mbps) broadband over the next few years as part of a national programme being rolled out in all secondary schools. Welcoming the announcement, Minister for State at the Department of Transport, Tourism & Sport, Michael Ring detailed the Mayo schools as follows:

Launch of Achill drugs card

A combination of a focused community development project and determination by young people has finally yielded results. In early 2010, in response to community concerns, CorrAcla Teo called a public meeting where speakers from the Western Regional Drugs Task Force, (WRDTF) were invited to attend. Major construction work is to commence at McHale College, Achill, according to Mayo Minister of State Dara Calleary TD.

AIB Build a Bank

The regional finals of AIB’s Build a Bank Challenge 2009 will take place over the coming weeks with 11 schools in Mayo participating. One of them will go on to compete in the national final in Croke Park in May, when the 2009 Build a Bank Challenge winners will be crowned.
