A group of Mayo Civil Defence volunteers attended a ceremony in Croke Park this week where they were recognised for their work during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Fifteen individuals and groups will be honoured at the 28th Mayo People of the Year Awards gala function in Breaffy House Hotel, Castlebar, on Friday November 11. The event is organised annually by Mayo Rehab, Mayo County Council, and The Connaught Telegraph, with the funds going to the provision of services for Mayo Rehab. The function will be compered by Teresa O’Malley of Midwest Radio and Henry Mcglade of iMayo TV and music on the night will be provided by the Brose Walsh Band.

Castlebar councillors recommend sale of old library

A resolution to recommend that Mayo County Council dispose of the old Castlebar library by selling to a private buyer, was agreed by Castlebar councillors this week - with just one dissenting voice, Cllr Michael Kilcoyne. The matter will now go back before Mayo County Council for approval by members.
