Seven Mayo AC masters athletes competed in the National Masters Indoors Track and Field Championships last Sunday in the arena at Athlone IT. It was the second big event in the club's 2015 National calendar, having had a good contingent competing in Tuam last month in the Masters Cross Country. The first events went off at 11am and continued until 7pm - a hectic schedule due to record entries.

As part of the In Humbert’s Footsteps Gathering Event, the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar is delighted to present ’98 Recalled, a unique and fascinating exhibition of distinctive and previously unseen artefacts (many from private collections) and associated information pertaining to the 1798 Rebellion in Ireland, and French General Humbert’s expedition in particular. The collection of artefacts includes a selection of 1798 pikeheads, a French bayonet discovered at site of Battle of Ballinamuck, and the hat and sword belonging to French Captain Truc (who was appointed Town Commander of Ballina by General Humbert). The exhibition is presented in association with the In Humbert’s Footsteps Gathering Event Castlebar Committee. The exhibition, which takes place in the Linenhall’s Theatre space, runs until Saturday, August 24.
On Saturday August 17 the Swinford Show celebrates its Silver Jubilee as it hosts its 25th Show. The show this year has moved to a new venue, namely the PND Business Park which is situated on the Foxford Road.
CSKA Killasser Community Sports Club is organising a fundraising cycle for Saturday October 6, with the entire funds going to Killasser Community Centre. Participants can choose either a 50k or 30k course. The event is open to clubs, groups, and individuals. Already many groups and individuals have indicated their intention to take part. So if you are free on that day you can join them. Helmets must be worn. Registration is at Killasser Community Centre at 11am, the fee is €20. The AAI National Masters Indoor Track and Field Championships take place this Sunday January 23 in the Nenagh indoor arena. Mayo AC will have a strong team heading down to the event and are confident of continuing the club’s good record of recent years in this championship. The Mayo team is made up of Tom Hunt, Robert Malseed, Pat Moran, Anne Murray, and Martin Peyton.
