The Border, Midland, and Western Regional Assembly has announced the allocation of €2.8m to the linked Mayo hub towns of Ballina and Castlebar under the European Regional Development Fund. Have you seen the exhibition which is currently on display in Market Square, Castlebar? It certainly is a crowd stopper and is called Everyday Architecture - an exhibition of projects in Mayo, made by architects, which is currently touring the county. The exhibition considers how everyone's everyday experience can be improved through good design; be it in a house, a shopfront, a piece of furniture, a moment of life framed in a view, a detail, or how daylight enters a room.

A lot of behind the scenes work among the elected members of Ballina Town Council over the past week saw the elected members and the Town Council management agree to a tiny reduction in the rate for 2010 at the annual budget meeting which was held in Ballina on Tuesday night.
