Every now and again, something crops up on the rich cultural scene Galway is home to, and it makes you think: wow. Generation Fleadh, which runs for four days from Monday, 13 November, definitely wows.

As a kid, I used to love when the circus came to town. Early one morning, there would be the ping-ping ping of the tent pegs being driven into the ground in The Green, just behind my home house in Ballinrobe. We would go to school excited with the thought that by the time we ran home at lunchtime across the town for a quickly-consumed dinner (dinner in the middle of the day people, you see), the town park would have been transformed into something colourful and magical and so very different from the nothingness that was normally there.

With new Irish cinema, award winning world cinema, short films, panels, discussions, and masterclasses, the 35th edition of the Galway Film Festival will bring powerful, moving, funny and provocative storytelling from both emerging and renowned filmmakers to Galway for the 35th edition of the Galway Film Fleadh.

With a week to go before the launch of the 35th edition of the Galway Film Fleadh, two more films are announced from the Music strand.

Galway Film Fleadh will stage three World Premieres and three Irish Premieres from the 35th edition of the film festival taking place from 11 – 16 July in the Town Hall Theatre and Pálás Cinema. Irish Film Talent is to the fore of programming at the Fleadh alongside World Cinema, award winning Documentaries and Irish and International Short Films. Audiences can look forward to powerful, moving, funny and provocative storytelling from both emerging and renowned filmmakers.
