Over 70 people gathered in the Linenhall Foyer on Friday, February 7 to attend the opening of a photographic exhibition “Qualities of Water” and the launch of an educational booklet “Lough Carra – a Gem Worth preserving”.

The Mayo branch of Birdwatch Ireland, in association with the newly formed Mayo branch of the Irish Wildlife Trust, is holding an evening walk at Lough Carra on Saturday June 11. It will be led by Chris and Lynda Huxley who will give an insight into the flora and fauna of the lake. The walk will also include a visit to Moorehall to learn about bats. The event is free and all are welcome.
Following on from the success that Mayo County Council has had in promoting the county as a walking destination since the appointment of a full time walking officer, a number of councillors are requesting that the council look at a similar appointment to promote fishing in the county on a pilot basis.
