NUI Galway seek participants for autism in healthcare research study

The School of Medicine at NUI Galway is conducting the H-FIT study, which aims to improve access to healthcare for people on the autism spectrum. The research team are currently recruiting people on the autism spectrum and their caregivers. Participants who take part in the study will be asked to complete anonymous questionnaires and/or interviews about their experiences in healthcare.

The Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe presented his third Budget on Tuesday against the backdrop of continuing improved economic performance. Budget 2019 sees the distribution of the benefits of the improving economic conditions, mostly in the form of increased Government spending. Some of the key expenditure areas highlighted by the Minister included social and affordable housing, health and childcare, education, Brexit and climate change. On the tax front, there was a mixture of tax increases and modest tax reductions.

Ó Cuív demands rules for community employment schemes be ‘relaxed’

All vacant places on the Community Employment Scheme, the Tús Scheme and the Rural Social Scheme must be “filled without delay”, while rules governing the schemes must be changed to allow participants to stay on longer if no other suitable applicants are available to fill them.
