Senior business figures allow their brains to be picked at SCCUL mentoring event

A new structured mentoring initiative where the expertise of leading business figures in Galway will be shared with small businesses was launched last Friday in Ballybane Enterprise Centre. Ring welcomes housing capital allocations of over €3.5 million

Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Michael Ring TD has welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Housing and Planning, Jan O’Sullivan TD in relation to the housing capital allocations to local authorities worth €251.5 million for 2012. The allocation will support investment under the national regeneration programme, works to improve the standard and energy efficiency of the national social housing stock as well as meeting commitments under the existing contracts for delivering social and voluntary houses. Further multi-annual capital investment programmes for new housing construction projects will be outlined later in the year.

Demand for AIT science courses soars by 30 per cent

Demand for science courses at Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT) has soared by 30 per cent, with nearly 6,300 mentions recorded through the CAO for science programmes at the institute. The number of applicants for honours degrees at AIT has risen by 20 per cent, to over 4,500.
