2016 has proven to be a record breaking year at Ireland West Airport with passenger numbers exceeding 730,000 for the first time in the airports 31 year history. In 2016, the annual number of passengers using the airport increased by 7% to 734,031, an increase of 48,563 passengers compared to 2015. The Airport now serves 23 International destinations and is served by three of Europes major International airlines, Aer Lingus, Flybe and Ryanair.

Taoiseach presents gift featuring Kilmaine Church to Pope

An Taoiseach Enda Kenny presented a gift of a Harry Clarke printed canvas of the beautiful nativity window from St Patrick’s Church in Kilmaine, to His Holiness, Pope Francis, during a private audience at the Vatican on Monday. The framed canvas was inscribed as follows: "From the Nativity Window by Harry Clarke, St. Patrick's Church, Kilmaine, Co. Mayo. Last Saturday October 8 the now annual blessing of pets took place in Knock Shrine, the event was organised by the Family Centre at Knock Shrine which decided to run it again this year. Owing to the the nature of the creatures that were being blessed, the event was held outside the Family Centre at the Shrine.
