Deadline for entries to Junior Painter of the Year Awards is fast approaching

Illustrator Alan Nolan and visually impaired artist Padraig Naughton have teamed up with Sightsavers Ireland to call on primary school students across Mayo to let their inner artists loose and get their paintings ready for the sixth annual Junior Painter of the Year Awards, reminding them that the closing date is only weeks away, January 16 2015.

Sarah Mullaney is Best in Ireland at Sightsavers Painter Awards

Sarah Mullaney from St Joseph’s NS, Swinford was named the Best Junior Painter in Ireland at the Sightsavers Ireland Junior Painter of the Year Awards. Six-year-old Sarah’s winning painting, ‘Seeing My Family’, was inspired by the competition theme ‘Seeing This Makes Me Smile’ and was chosen from over 5,000 entries from primary school children around Ireland. Sarah’s painting is now part of an exhibition at Airfield, Dundrum, Co Dublin alongside 14 shortlisted paintings and work from renowned artist Helen Steele until March 16.

Children asked to get painting for Sightsavers Ireland

Sightsavers Ireland is calling on Galway primary school children to paint ‘The sight they would most like to see’ for the first Sightsavers Ireland Junior Painter of the Year Awards.
