The one remaining semi-final berth in the senior football championship will be filled this weekend with either Garrycastle or The Downs advancing to meet St Loman’s. These sides meet in Rochfortbridge on Saturday at 5.30pm in what should be a tighter affair than the odds might suggest.

There are three big games down for decision this weekend in the senior ranks. On Friday night in Cusack Park C/F/C/W take on Killucan in the relegation play-off. Both sides have been affected by missing players all year and were likely candidates for this fixture from a long way out.

Round three of the Westmeath senior football championship takes place this weekend and there are few if any certainties in what should be an interesting selection of games. The Downs, Garrycastle, Castledaly, Maryland, Shamrocks, and St Loman’s have each been given the favourites tag ahead of their respective games and while they may all oblige, with question marks hanging over most teams, I expect a few upsets over the weekend.
