Beautiful documentary Born That Way to get two screenings in Galway in coming week
This week, Galway audiences have a rare opportunity to encounter a film that has already touched hearts across the country. Born That Way, the profoundly moving new documentary by awardwinning Corrandulla-based filmmaker Éamon Little, will receive two special hometown screenings at Nun’s Island Theatre — 8pm on Sunday, December 7, and 8pm on Wednesday, December 10. For those who cherish intimate, human-centred storytelling, these screenings promise an experience as reflective as it is transformative.
A double-bill of devastatingly beautiful theatrics
T5 and Sea Wall are modern plays with traditional, old-fashioned theatrics and storytelling. Stripped down to the bare essentials, they become just a story with an actor and the audience, driven by both the language and plot line from Belfast-born playwright Simon Stephens. The double bill runs at Nun’s Island Theatre from Saturday, July 12 to July 26.
€3.8 million for Nuns Island Theatre and Church House facelift
€3.8 million has been secured to renovate the Nuns Island Theatre and Church House, to its rear - a move which will represent a further 1,800 square feet of cultural space in the city and a significant boost to the arts community. The funding was secured under THRIVE, the Town Centre First Heritage Revival Scheme, awarded under Ireland’s two European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Regional Programmes.
