Bon Secours Hospitals win Irish National Safety Award

Bon Secours Hospital Galway, accredited by Joint Commission International, was recently awarded the 2013 NISO/NISG All-Ireland Major Safety Award for Medical Services. Business category awards are awarded to organisations which have met a minimum high standard (distinction level) and who are best within their business category. This is the hospital’s second submission - in 2012 it was the recipient of a distinction in the Prestigious Award category.

Safe Journey – Ireland’s battle against road death

Last week business and pleasure coincided for me nicely: I found myself in Co. Sligo, where I have roots and relatives aplenty. I was giving an address to the annual conference of the National Irish Safety Organisation at the Radisson Blu hotel so I was able to spend part of my afternoon looking out at the magnificent view across the harbour. NISO proposes national safety board

Responding to the Government’s proposal to absorb the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) in a new Business Inspection and Licensing Authority (BILA), the National Irish Safety Organisation (NISO) is instead proposing the establishment of a national safety authority covering occupational, road, rail, aviation, maritime, fire, farm and public safety to create efficiencies without negating the role of various health and safety agencies.

Castlebar mechanical company receives health and safety award
