Cancer survivors from Mayo attend Irish Cancer Society conference

Record numbers of cancer survivors attended the recent Irish Cancer Society National Conference for Cancer Survivorship. To mark its 50th Anniversary, the Irish Cancer Society held a milestone conference entitled Living Well with Cancer, bringing together over 800 cancer survivors for the first time. Cancer Survivors from Mayo attended the conference alongside representatives from Mayo Cancer Support Association. The two-day event which took place in the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, was the largest event of its kind by the society, and was kindly supported by Roche.

Free conference for cancer survivors

Irish Cancer Society support programme

The Irish Cancer Society is launching a new programme to help those recently diagnosed with secondary cancer to learn about and discuss the practical and emotional issues of their diagnosis in a safe, confidential, and supportive environment. The six month programme, which will be facilitated by clinical psychologist Aine Melinn, will commence in March 2013 and meetings will take place at the Irish Cancer Society headquarters in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4.
